LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Maine police say five protesters were arrested at the Lewiston office of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and charged with criminal trespass.

Lewiston police say the protesters were extremely polite and cooperative, but refused to leave the office when asked Monday. WGME-TV reports the protesters said they would not leave until the senator voted no on the GOP tax overhaul.

The Republican senator announced Monday she would be voting yes on the final version of the Republican tax bill package.

The Bangor Daily News reports three protesters were also arrested at Collins' Bangor office and were issued citations.
