Florence One Schools board to hold called meeting
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Florence One Schools board of trustees will have a called meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday in the John T. Sullivan Board Meeting Room in the district office.
The meeting was called to discuss a few time-sensitive topics that the board of trustees did not get to last Thursday because the board voted to adjourn the meeting near 1 a.m., according to Chairman Barry Townsend.
“It is difficult for anyone to be effective and be at their best when a meeting goes on that long,” Townsend said.
The agenda for the called meeting consists of recommendations from human resources, board meeting minutes, financial statements, workman’s compensation, school renewal plans and district strategic plan, adult school and recommended policies, according to a notice from the district.
Townsend said the personnel sheet was one of the most time-sensitive things to be discussed, because those include contract offers for new teachers.
The meeting was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., but was moved up to 4 p.m. to allow more board members to participate, according to Townsend.
