CWD deer hunt to be available at White Pines

December 18, 2018

MOUNT MORRIS – Late-season firearm deer hunting is Dec. 27-30 and Jan. 18-20, and White Pines Forest State Park, 6712 W. Pines Road, will be open for hunters looking to take advantage of Ogle County’s designation as a chronic wasting disease county.

Ogle County is one of 15 in northern Illinois to get the CWD designation, which means hunters can harvest antlered or antlerless deer with valid, unused firearm tags.

The CWD hunt is designed to prevent the spread of the fatal disease, which affects the brain and nervous systems of deer.

Permits are available from 4 a.m. to noon at the park’s hunter check station. Call the White Pines Forest office at 815-946-3717 for more information.
