Samaranch Hospitalized but Better
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) _ Juan Antonio Samaranch remains hospitalized but is getting better.
``His condition is improving but he is still in hospital because the doctors want him to rest a little bit more,″ a spokeswoman, who spoke under the IOC’s policy of not being identified, said Monday.
The former IOC president was taken to a hospital in Lausanne on July 17, his 81st birthday, shortly after returning from an IOC meeting in Moscow. The IOC cited ``extreme fatigue.″
The meeting marked the end of Samaranch’s 21-year term as IOC president. Belgium’s Jacques Rogge was elected as his successor, and Samaranch was appointed IOC honorary life president.
Samaranch was unable to attend Friday’s ceremony in Lausanne when Rogge officially took over as president.
