Louisiana deputy hit by stolen car shoots driver in face
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Authorities in Louisiana say a St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a man driving a stolen car just before being hit by the vehicle.
News outlets report law enforcement authorities say the car hit the deputy in the leg Monday morning and the driver was shot in the face. Driver 21-year-old Tyrin Hamilton was treated at a hospital and later booked into jail on charges including possession of stolen property. The deputy was treated and released.
Three other deputies from the same sheriff’s office were also wounded Monday while stopping a stolen vehicle.
State police say the deputies attempted to stop a car stolen out of Mississippi when shots were fired. The uninjured suspect was arrested. The deputies were treated for minor injuries.
