HS ROUNDUP: Abington Heights Nets Win Over Scranton Tennis

Rory Harris and Sam Weiss posted wins in singles to help Abington Heights win an early-season battle of Lackawanna League tennis unbeatens, toppling Scranton, 4-1, on Wednesday.

Harsh Patel won at No. 2 singles for the Knights.

At Delaware Valley, Ryan Carrotto and Kevin Duffy won in straight sets to help Valley View remain undefeated with a 4-1 win over Delaware Valley, which got its win from Tomas Reese at No. 1 singles.

At Riverside, Lenny Maiocco and Mike Devore posted love-set victories to lead Western Wayne to a 4-0 win.

At Wallenpaupack, the Buckhorns swept their doubles matches and John Squatrito had a singles victory to help Wallenpaupack top Dunmore.

Dunmore’s Max Burke and David Day had singles wins.

Honesdale’s doubles squads of Adam Blake-Brady Hanson and Gibbs Goodenough-George Legg both posted three-set victories as the Hornets slipped past West Scranton, 3-2.

Despite five goals from Dante DeRiggi, Abington Heights fell in its Wyoming Valley Conference match with visiting Wyoming Seminary, 11-7.

Ian Stevens and Hunter Riiff had the other goals for the Comets.

Ryan Anderson scored six times for the Blue Knights and also handed out four assists.
