Annual Model Railroad Show returns to Huntington

HUNTINGTON — Certain sounds capture a season. Nothing reminds children and adults alike more of Christmastime than blaring train horns and the shuff ling of model trains running across tracks.

The Appalachian Model Railroad Society based out of Ceredo, West Virginia, will put on its conductor hats for 61st Annual Model Railroad Show. The event is scheduled to take place at Friday through Sunday, Nov. 23-25 at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena, located between Third Avenue and Eighth Street.

Starting Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. the show opens to the public. Hours for Saturday are 10 a.m until 8 p.m. with Sunday times set for noon until 4:30 p.m. The show features model railroads, hobby shops, memorabilia, and railroad books. Also available is new and used model train equipment. Model trains exhibits are scheduled to be running throughout displays during all three event days.

Santa is arrives Friday, Nov. 23, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. He is scheduled to visit on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 25, from noon until 4 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring cameras to capture memories and pictures with Santa.

Adult tickets are available at $6 and children 12 years old and younger are admitted for $1.
