Springfield police investigate fatal stabbing
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police are investigating the city’s 18th homicide of the year.
Officers responding to reports of a fight in a rear parking lot of a Worthington Street apartment building at about 5 a.m. Sunday found two stabbing victims.
Both were taken to Baystate Medical Center.
One victim, described only as a 50-year-old man who is from outside the city, died. The other man, a 39-year-old Springfield resident, is expected to survive.
Their names were not immediately released.
There was no word on any arrests and what sparked the fight remains under investigation.
