Fire at Lake Stevens post office damages boxes
LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (AP) — Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at the Lake Stevens post office.
KOMO-TV reports that crews responded to the scene at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday after a witness reported smoke and flames.
When first responders arrived, they could see fire at the front entrance to the post office.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and keep it contained to the public post office box area. The rest of the building sustained moderate smoke damage.
Assistant Fire Marshal David Petersen says no one was injured.
Officials say the post office hopes to be open Friday, but the decision will come later in the morning.
