CHRISTIAN BARNES, South Central Pitt, LB, Sr., 5-10, 185 _ Had 141 total tackles (92 solo, 48 assisted) with four sacks, 14 tackles for losses, a forced fumble, four recoveries and three defensive touchdowns.

STEVEN BAUER, Charlotte Ardrey Kell, LB, So., 5-11, 180 _ Had 112 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and three breakups. Was second in conference in tackles.

PRINCE BEMAH, Gastonia Huss, LB, Sr. _ 140 tackles. Conference defensive player of the year. Selected to Shrine Bowl. Committed to Charlotte.

ELI BOST, Monroe, LB, Sr., 5-10, 210 _ Had 136 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and multiple fumble recoveries. Team’s second-leading tackler. Helped make the calls for the defense and was always around the ball. Drawing interest from several schools.

DEREK BOYKINS, Central Cabarrus, LB, Sr., 6-1, 225 _ Had 117 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, five hurries, one blocked punt returned for a touchdown. Had a receiving TD and two rushing 2-point conversions. Shrine Bowl pick. Rated as a top-20 player in the state. Committed to South Carolina.

CANNON BRIDGES, West Lincoln, LB, Jr., 6-0, 175 _ Had 107 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three breakups, two fumble recoveries, one fumble recovery for a touchdown. Also had 501 yards rushing with seven scores with two 100-yard games. In his only start at fullback, he ran for 170 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown and a 2-point conversion.

TANNER CANTERBURY, Belmont South Point, LB, Sr., 6-0, 190 _ Team captain who had 70 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery. Three-time all-conference pick.

CHRIS COLON, Monroe, LB/RB, Sr., 6-0, 205 _ Had 168 tackles to lead the team for the second straight season. Also had 24 tackles for loss, four sacks, 10 forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, one interception. Frequently delivered the needed key hit. Also played as lead fullback and was on all special teams, averaging 40 yards on punts. All-conference pick, Team overall MVP. Drawing interest from several schools.

POWER ECHOLS, Charlotte Vance, LB, So., 6-1, 200 _ See player of the year nominations.

OSITA EKWONU, Charlotte Providence Day, LB, Sr., 6-2, 220 _ Had 90 solo tackles, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Ranked as one of the nation’s top inside linebackers. All-conference and NCISAA all-state pick. On offense, had 765 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns. Also had 97 yards receiving. Ranked as No. 7 prospect in state’s senior class by 247sports.

JAKE HARKELROAD, Charlotte Myers Park, LB, Sr., 5-11, 205 _ Had 154 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and three sacks. Had 22 tackles, three tackles for loss and one sack in second round of state playoffs against Matthews Butler. Had 18 tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack in third round of state playoffs against Richmond County. Had 17 tackles and two tackles for loss against Charlotte Vance in the state semifinals.

ETHAN JACKSON, Mooresboro Jefferson, LB, Sr., 6-1, 230 _ Had 111 tackles and four sacks. Also played OL.

JT KILLEN, Charlotte Christian, LB, Sr., 6-2, 200 _ Had 101 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception return for a touchdown in nine games. Committed to Coastal Carolina.

LEE KPOGBA, Winston-Salem Parkland, LB, Sr., 6-2, 210 _ Had 91 tackles and 16 sacks. Also rushed for 600 yards and 10 touchdowns. Signed with Syracuse.

COLE LARSEN, East Rutherford, LB, Sr., 6-0, 220 _ Was second in the state with 204 tackles, 122 being solo stops. Had nine tackles for loss, one sack, seven hurries, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

GARRETT MANNING, Wilmington Hoggard, LB, Jr., 6-1, 200 _ Led team with 104 tackles, five sacks and two fumble recoveries. Was top player in conference. Drawing interest from Wake Forest and Duke.

BRANDON MASONE, Matthews Butler, LB, Sr., 6-1, 220 _ Had 96 tackles, 14 tackles for loss. Team captain and two-year starter. All-conference pick.

ZACH MORLIDGE, Mooresville Pine Lake Prep, LB, 6-0, 200 _ Had 103 tackles with one interception, three forced fumbles and four tackles for loss. Also started all 11 games at RG on offense.

STORM MONROE, Charlotte Hough, LB, Jr., 5-10, 215 _ Led team with 94 tackles while playing just 11 games. Had six tackles for loss and two sacks.

JOHN PICKFORD, Brevard, LB, Jr., 5-11, 185 _ Had 113 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, six sacks, 27 hurries, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and three forced fumbles.

JAMES PRICE, Monroe Piedmont, LB, 6-1, 200 _ Had 170 tackles in 11 regular-season games. Had 13 tackles for loss and three sacks. All-conference picks.

BJ RAMSEUR, Shelby Crest, LB, 5-10, 225 _ Had 98 tackles, one interception return for a touchdown, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble. All-conference and Shrine Bowl pick.

TRELL RANKIN, Reidsville, LB, Sr., 5-7, 215 _ Had 155 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and a recovered fumble. JUD REEL, East Lincoln, LB, Sr., 5-10, 200 _ Had more than 125 tackles for a third straight year, finishing with 156 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and two forced fumbles.

JACOB ROBERTS, Charlotte Mallard Creek, LB, Sr., 6-0, 220 _ Had 115 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, six sacks, four hurries, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three interceptions. Recovered his own block of a punt for a touchdown. Had seven breakups. All-conference and Shrine Bowl pick. Committed to North Carolina A&T.

JAYLON SCOTT, Shelby, LB, Sr. _ Had 103 tackles, including 24 for losses. Blocked two kicks. Conference defensive player of the year. Committed to N.C. State.

WILL SMITH, Waxhaw Marvin Ridge, LB, Sr., 5-10, 180 _ Had 127 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and eight sacks.

JAKE SOORUS, North Lincoln, RB/LB, Jr. _ Had 64 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks, three fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles and one blocked field goal. Also ran for 1,126 yards and 14 touchdowns to go with a TD catch on offense.

KOBE TURNER, Statesville, LB, Sr., 5-10, 240 _ Had 65 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. Conference defensive player of the year.

DOMINIQUE WILEY, Concord Robinson, RB/LB, Sr., 6-0, 215 _ Had 55 tackles with six tackles for loss. On offense, had 467 yards rushing and 119 yards receiving with seven touchdowns. Two-time all-conference pick.

JACK WILKES, Charlotte Providence, LB, 6-1, 210 _ Had 113 tackles, six sacks and 11 pressures. Two-year starter with a total of 283 tackles in his varsity career. Two-time all-conference pick.
