Halloween weddings offered by Akron Municipal Court judge

AKRON, Ohio – Want to get hitched this Halloween?

If so, you’re in luck.

Akron Municipal Court Judge Nicole Walker will perform weddings from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St.

It’s the second year the court is offering Halloween weddings. Last year, 20 couples said “I do” at the Akron Civic Theatre on Oct. 31.

Costumes are welcomed for the weddings, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Weddings must be scheduled and paid for before Oct. 31.

Interested couples must obtain a marriage license from the Summit County Probate Court and pay a cash-only ceremony fee at the Akron Municipal Court Clerk’s Office in Room 837 of the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center, 217 S. High St.

The fee is $25 for residents of Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore and the Summit County portion of Mogadore. The fee is $40 for those residing outside the court’s jurisdiction. After paying the fee, couples should take their receipt to Room 901 in the Stubbs building to secure a time slot.

Couples should use the Akron Civic Theatre’s Main Street entrance on the day of the ceremony. Professional photographers are not permitted at the venue.

For scheduling information, contact Akron Municipal Court Chief Service Bailiff Patricia Williams at 330-375-2592.

The Akron Civic Theatre donated space for the event.
