Wranglers wallop Dust Devils 61-35
MOHAVE VALLEY — The host Wranglers sent Dust Devils back to River Valley High School on Tuesday night after whipping them 61-35 at Wickenburg High School during the Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A West Region boys basketball game.
The loss dropped the No. 28-ranked Dust Devils’ record to 5-8 overall, 2-4 in conference and 2-4 in region, according to the aiaonline.org’s power-point rankings system. The win improved the No. 7-ranked Wranglers’ record to 12-1 overall, 10-1 in conference and 6-0 in region.
“Tonight was a game that was spread out in quarters,” said River Valley head coach Dan Powell by text message. “They had height and showed their speed.
“We stayed with them, but fouls caught up (to us and made it) hard to play when players have fouls.”
Sophomore pivot player Andrew Rodriguez scored 13 points, junior forward Trevell Walker added 13 and junior point guard Nathan Vargas chipped in nine to lead the Dust Devils, and senior Jackson Tillapaugh tallied 25 points to lead the Wranglers.
