Agencies searching for man who fled from Interstate 71 crash in Mansfield, wanted for threatening President Donald Trump

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Law enforcement agencies are asking for the public’s help in locating a Pennsylvania man wanted for threatening President Donald Trump and other elected officials, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Shawn Richard Christy stole a truck Sunday from the area of McAdoo, Pennsylvania,  the U.S. Marshals Service said Sunday in a news release. He crashed around 4:45 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 71 in the Mansfield area and has not been located by law enforcement, the U.S. Marshals said.

The stolen vehicle was recovered by the State Highway Patrol. The U.S. Marshals are joined by the FBI and U.S. Secret Service in searching for Christy.

Christy, 27, of McAdoo, has multiple arrest warrants in Pennsylvania for burglary, probation violation and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. He has also threatened to use “full lethal force on any law enforcement officer that tries to detain me.”

A federal warrant was issued June 19 for Christy in connection to Facebook threats to the Northampton County district attorney, stating, “Keep it up Morganelli, I promise I’ll put a bullet in your head as soon as I put one in the head of President Donald J. Trump.”

Christy should be considered armed and dangerous, the U.S. Marshals said. The FBI said Christy may possess several stolen handguns. Residents in the Mansfield area should use caution and keep their homes and cars locked.

“If you see Christy, call the authorities immediately,” supervisory deputy Anne Murphy of the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Christy is 5-foot-10 and weighs about 160 pounds, Murphy said. He has a light complexion with a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short dark blonde hair and a beard. He speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist, Murphy said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the U.S. Marshals at 1-866-492-6833 or text “WANTED” and the tip to TIP411, or 847411.

Federal agents are offering a cash award of up to $20,000 for information leading to Christy’s arrest. Any information will be considered confidential.
