Augustus scores 17 points to lead Lynx past Stars
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Seimone Augustus scored 17 points in her return from a knee injury as the Minnesota Lynx beat the San Antonio Stars 88-78 in the WNBA on Friday for their sixth straight victory.
Augustus, who missed eight games and the All-Star Game because of bursitis in her left knee, fueled a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach.
Lindsey Whalen added 14 points to help Minnesota beat San Antonio for the 10th straight time at home. Maya Moore had 12 points three nights after scoring a career-high 48 against Atlanta.
Minnesota led by 10 points in the third quarter before San Antonio used a 13-6 run to cut the Lynx’s lead to 52-51 with 5:15 to play in the period.
Elsewhere in the league, the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream lost their third straight game for the first time this season, falling to the Chicago Sky, 79-75.
Epiphanny Prince scored 21 points, Jessica Breland added 15 and Sylvia Fowles finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Sky.
Sancho Lyttle and Tiffany Hayes each had 15 points for the Dream, who still have a four-game lead over Washington in the East.
The Mystics defeated the Tulsa Shock 82-77, despite making only one field goal in the fourth quarter.
Ivory Latta scored 17 points and Monique Currie scored 16 points — all on free throws — for Washington.
