Kankakee Public Library to collect winter donations

The Kankakee Public Library is partnering with Fortitude Community Outreach to collect specific items each month to provide to those who are in need. All throughout December, people may drop off hats, scarves and gloves inside the donation box through the doors of the library. For more information, call 815-939-4564.

Limestone Township Library to host events

The Limestone Township Library District, 2701 W. Tower Road in Kankakee, is hosting the following events:

DIY Spa Day — 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday for YA/adults. Participants can make their own spa essentials. All supplies are provided, and there is no fee for this program.Getting Ready for Kindergarten, Little Buck-a-Roo — 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. For ages 3 to 5 years. Children must be enrolled in the GRFK program in order to participate. The program is funded by a grant from the Community Works fund from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley.Intergenerational Reading-Craft Day — noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday for children in grades one through four with Harvest View resident. Residents from Harvest View will be coming to the library to team up with young patrons to read stories, make a craft and eat a snack.Evening with Santa — 5 to 6 p.m. and 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Monday. There will be a storytime, crafts and a special time with Santa in the Peterson Schoolhouse. Registration is required. There is no fee for the program.Storytime — 10:15 to 11 a.m., Dec. 4. Enjoy the mix of crafts, stories, and music to help young children develop a love for reading. Parents and guardians can bring their 6-month- to 5-year-old children.
