Gary H. McClatchey, 79, of Manteno, passed away Monday (Aug. 27, 2018) at Miller Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee.
He was born Oct. 22, 1938, in Kankakee, the son of Herschel and Evelyn Patchett McClatchey.
Mr. McClatchey was retired from Commonwealth Edison Company after 36 years. He was a graduate of Kankakee High School and Marycrest Business College. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He was a 25-year member of the Kankakee Musicians Association Local 288. He was a member of the Manteno United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, the former Shirley Hermling, whom he married Feb. 2, 1958, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Kankakee; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Michael Duncan, of Dunlap, and Mary and Michael Lanoue, of Mahomet; and five grandchildren, Katherine, Meredith, Michelle, Connor and Lauren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, also at the funeral home. The Rev. Joy Schlesselman will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, Ind.
