LANSING, Mich. — Hotly contested GOP and Democratic primaries for Michigan’s open race for governor will be decided in Tuesday’s election. By David Eggert. UPCOMING: 500 words, photos. Will be updated throughout the day and into the evening as races are called.

Entries of “The Latest” will move for the following contested races, once their results have been called:

— Michigan GOP governor primary (4 Republicans running.)

— Michigan Democratic governor primary (3 Democrats running)

— Michigan GOP US Senate primary (2 Republicans running, with winner to face incumbent Democratic US Sen. Debbie Stabenow in November.)

— Michigan US House District 9 (3 Democrats, including Andy Levin, son of incumbent Rep. Sandy Levin, who is retiring. Winner will face GOP candidate Candius Stearns and Green candidate John McDermott, who are unopposed.)

— Michigan US House District 11 (5 Democrats and 5 Republicans running for open seat left by retirement of GOP Rep. David Trott.)

— Michigan Democratic US House District 13 special election (4 Democrats vying to fill out the term in November. Open because of John Conyers Jr.’s retirement amid sex scandal.)

— Michigan US House District 13 (6 Democratic candidates for the open seat left with retirement of John Conyers Jr.)

— Michigan US House District 8 (incumbent Mike Bishop in primary with winner to face winner of 2 Democrats.)

DETROIT — Three open U.S. House seats in Michigan will get their first test of voters in Tuesday’s primary with a special focus on the Detroit area District 13 that longtime Democratic Rep. John Conyers left late last year after he was accused of groping and sexually harassing women. No Republican is running in the heavily Democratic district but several Democratic candidates are seeking the seat in both a special election to fill out the term that ends in January and the regular election.
