Mt. Carmel Lady Aces win again, improve to 9-0

MOUNT CARMEL -- The Mt. Carmel Lady Aces golf team continued their exceptional start to the season, winning again to improve to 9-0 on the season, this time in a triangular match with Gibson Southern (IN) and Mount Vernon (IN) at the Mt. Carmel Municipal Golf Course on Thursday, Aug. 16.

Unlike the previous matches, the Lady Aces squeaked by for the win, finishing with a team score of 175, just two strokes higher than Gibson Southern’s 177. Mt. Vernon finished in last with a score of 192.

One Lady Ace who had a particularly great day of golf, freshman Daisy Schrader. Schrader ended with the top score of the day individually, shooting a 39 and winning Medalist honors for the first time in her young high school career.

Junior Allyson Armstrong finished second individually, posting a score of 41 and assisting Schrader in leading the Golden Aces to the win.

Fellow junior Faith Witsman capped her day with a 45 and additionally, sophomore Maya Smith shot for a 50.

They’ll look to continue their great start to the season against Hamilton Junior/Senior high school in McLeansboro on Monday, Aug. 20 at 4 p.m.
