2nd malnourished dog found in Coventry

October 8, 2018

COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) — Police in Coventry, Rhode Island say they are investigating after two malnourished dogs were found in town within the past few days.

Police discovered an emaciated female pit bull inside a vehicle on Monday. That comes after officers found a severely malnourished male pit bull wandering the streets Saturday night. That dog was in such poor shape that it had to be euthanized.

Police think the dogs are connected.

The female found Monday was in a vehicle driven by a South Carolina resident who said he located the dog running loose early Saturday morning.

She was treated at an animal hospital and is being cared for by Coventry Animal Control.

A reward of $1,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.
