Butler County Girls Basketball Wrap-Up
After facing Dorchester just two days earlier, Shelby-Rising City saw the Longhorns in the first round of the conference tournament and claimed a second straight win 24-18 behind 14 points from Kamryn Pokorney.
S-RC had a 16-7 lead at halftime.
Jan. 19 - No. 3 Aquinas Catholic 52, Kearney Catholic 30: Breanna Stouffer continued to be a force on the court, leading the Monarchs in every statistical category. She scored 18 points, dished out six assists, grabbed six rebounds and recorded four steals.
Aquinas outscored Kearney Catholic 27-9 in the second half.
Jan. 19 - East Butler 53, Osceola 32: East Butler defeated Osceola in the first round of the Crossroads Conference Tournament.
Jan. 17 - Shelby-Rising City 24, Dorchester 18: Kamryn Pokorney almost matched Dorchester’s total points when she led the Huskies with 12.
The Huskies closed the game out by outscoring the Longhorns 6-2 in the final eight minutes.
Jan. 17 - Meridian 46, East Butler 41: Lexi Haney led East Butler with nine points in a losing effort to Meridian.
The Tigers were outscored 19-4 in the first quarter.
“We’re dealing with numerous injuries and line up changes over the past three games,” said head coach James Kriz. “I have girls playing spots they aren’t used to playing. The team continues to work hard, if and when we can get back to a full line up hopefully things will get back on track.”
Jan. 15 - Giltner 68, East Butler 26: Giltner’s offensive explosion through the first three quarter was too much for the Tigers to overcome. Allie Rigatuso led the team with nine points.
