WVC SOFTBAL: Berwick Beats Wyoming Area

At Wyoming Area, Emily Novicki hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning that helped propel Berwick to a 6-3 extra-innings victory over the Warriors on Tuesday in WVC softball.

Novicki was one of three Bulldogs with two hits, joining Sarah Dent and Hannah Hess.

Novicki pitched 5⅔ innings of strong relief, allowing only one run and striking out seven to earn the win.

Wyoming Area’s Nicole Silinskie was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Kari Melberger and Aleah Kranson each doubled.

At Tunkhannock, the Tigers snapped their three-game losing streak with an incredible game at the plate, where they hit seven doubles, two triples and two home runs.

Cleanup hitter Jena Simmons was 3 for 3 with a home run and six RBIs. Leadoff hitter Faith Jones also hit a home run, going 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Hope Jones and Erin Dunn each tallied three hits, while Kendra Schultz was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs. Schultz pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in four innings.
