BRIDGEPORT, N.Y. (AP) — The Oneida Indians are opening their third casino in central New York.

The $40 million Point Place Casino near Syracuse opens Thursday in an increasing crowded regional gambling market.

The new casino in Bridgeport has 500 slot machines and 20 table games. It's far smaller than the Oneida's sprawling Turning Stone Resort Casino, which has 2,000 slots and table games in Verona, New York. The Oneidas also operate the Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango.

Point Place is the sixth Indian casino in New York.

The state also is home to four other Las Vegas-style casinos, the newest of which opened in the Catskills last month. Revenues in those casinos have been behind initial projections.

New York also is home to ten "racino" horse tracks with video lottery terminals.
