FBISD’s DEA drug take back event brings in 500 pounds of drugs
Fort Bend ISD’s administration building was the spot for last month’s Drug Take Back event, a biannual national event sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
In conjunction with the FBISD Police Department, FBISD’s Safe and Drug Free Schools and the Fort Bend Community Prevention Coalition, officials collected 500 pounds of drugs from 110 cars.
The purpose of this event is to collect expired, unused and unwanted medications for disposal in a safe and environmentally friendly way. The goal is to keep medications out of our water supply and away from youth who could potentially abuse the medication. The event is free and open to anyone who wants to drop off medications, no questions asked.
The next Drug Take Back will take place in April. For more information, visit www.dea.gov .
