Flyers Get Rights to Matt Zultek
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ The Flyers got the rights to unsigned draft pick Matt Zultek in exchange for Philadelphia giving the Boston Bruins a ninth-round pick in the 2001 draft.
``Matt is a big winner with good hands,″ Flyers assistant general manager Paul Holmgren said Tuesday. ``He is 6′4″ and 222 pounds. We think that he is a good prospect and over the next few days, we will see of we can get him signed and into the organization.″
Zultek played last season for the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey league, getting nine goals and six assists with 34 penalty minutes in 28 games. Over four seasons with Ottawa, he had 97 goals, 80 assists and 337 penalty minutes.
Boston drafted Zultek in the second round of the 1999 NHL draft. The native of Windsor, Ontario, was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 1997 NHL entry draft.
