Subway Corpse Identified
NEW YORK (AP) _ A man found dead this week on a subway train has been identified by family members as an Ecuadorean immigrant who worked in the farm fields of Delaware.
It’s still uncertain how Ignacio Mendez, 37, died and how long he had been dead before fellow subway riders realized it. Autopsy results are pending while the medical examiner’s office performs toxicology and other tests.
Mendez was identified after family members from Brooklyn saw a sketch of him Thursday in several newspapers.
His corpse rode a subway train for several hours Monday morning before passengers realized he was dead and notified authorities, police said.
