Fairland’s big inning leads to victory over Coal Grove
ROME TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Fairland scored 10 runs in the third inning and defeated Coal Grove 12-0 in a high school baseball game Wednesday at Roger Snyder Field.
The Dragons’ Gavin Hunt struck out five and allowed four hits to earn the shutout victory. Dacoda Chapman went 2 for 4 with four runs batted in.
Cory Borders went 2 for 2 for Coal Grove.
RUSSELL 14, MASON COUNTY 0: Justin Manning threw a 62-pitch no-hitter and struck out nine as the Red Devils beat the Royals.
GREEN 10, SOUTH WEBSTER 0: Bryce Ponn went 3 for 3 with a home run and six RBI to lead the Bobcats (8-1) over the Jeeps. Tanner Kimbler struck out six in the shutout.
POINT PLEASANT 17, RAVENSWOOD 2: Brody Jeffers hit a grand slam and drive in five as the home-standing Big Blacks (11-3) clobbered the Red Devils. Tanner Mitchell drove in three.
IRONTON ST. JOE 14, PORTSMOUTH 10: Isaac Whaley had two hits and drove in three runs as the Flyers beat the Trojans. Ryan Payne drove in two runs. Whaley was the winning pitcher.
LAWRENCE COUNTY 14, CHESAPEAKE 1: McKenzie Methex homered and every Bulldog had a hit in a triumph over the Panthers.
SOUTH POINT 9, IRONTON ST. JOE 4: The Pointers took advantage of eight Flyer errors to make a winner of pitcher Emily Byrd. Paige Preston went 3 for 4 for Ironton St. Joe.
POINT PLEASANT 9, MEIGS 1: The Big Blacks (11-2) scored seven runs in the first inning on their way to a victory over the Marauders (6-6). Rylee Cochran was the winning pitcher. Peyton Jordan went 2 for 4 wand drove in two.
