Volleyball: 3 Lady Panthers named to state tournament team
Kingwood Park made school history by sweeping powerhouse Lucas Lovejoy 27-25,25-22, 25-22 in a Class 5A state final match for the Lady Panthers first volleyball state championship in school history.
Also, it was the first volleyball state championship in Humble Independent School District history.
The Lady Panthers received more honors when Elizabeth Overmyer, Katey Searcy and Andie Unwin were named to the Class 5A all-state tournament team on Monday.
Overmyer, who was named the most valuable player against Lovejoy, had a total of 21 kills, 13 kills and three blocks at the state tournament.
Searcy had 14 kills, nine assists and nine blocks at the state tournament.
Unwin had 44 assists and 24 digs in two matches at the state tournament.
