Longmont Times-Call

Longmont Public Safety will be participating in a full-scale hazmat drill at the Boulder County Fairgrounds for most of the day Tuesday.

The drill will start at 7:30 a.m. and end by 5 p.m., according to Longmont fire spokeswoman Molly Cropp.

The Boulder County Hazmat Authority, along with a civil support team from the Buckley Air Force Base, will be leading the hazmat exercise, which will provide training related to terrorist weapons of mass destruction, according to Cropp.

The Boulder County Hazmat team is made up of personnel from area fire departments, including Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette and Louisville, as well as the Boulder Rural and Mountain View fire protection districts, Cropp said.

Boulder Emergency Services, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and Boulder County Public Health will also be participating in the drill.
