Sea Cadets graduate in Katy
Katy Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9182 hosted a May 11 graduation ceremony for four senior Sea Cadets who are advancing to military service or ROTC programs.
Members of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps-Katy Division graduates class of 2019 are Petty Officer Second Class Jordan Polychronopulos of Post Oak High School, Seaman Daniel Crespo of Tompkins High School, Petty Officer Third Class Josiah Criswell, who’s homeschooled, and Petty Office Third Class Nicholas Betts of Cinco Ranch High School.
The graduation cake congratulating the four included the saying “fair winds and following seas,” a nautical blessing as they move forward.
VFW 9182 Commander Don Byrne presented a sexant to each graduate symbolizing and representing the tools needed to navigate life.
“Without a sexant, a sailor would not be able to successfully navigate the high seas, in life you need the right tools to navigate successfully toward your goals,” said Byrne.
