Poll shows tight race in key Pa. congressional district

WASHINGTON — Democrat Susan Wild has a narrow lead over Republican Marty Nothstein in a nationally watched House race in the Lehigh Valley, a new Monmouth University poll shows — but she may lack the enthusiasm edge Democrats have seen in other contests.

Wild, leads 46 percent to 40 over Nothstein, among all potential voters — those who have participated in an election since 2010 or have newly registered — according to the poll, released Thursday. But her lead shrinks to 47-45 using a likely voter model that accounts for historical midterm turnout; that is well within the margin of error. In the case of a Democratic surge her lead is 48-44, also within the margin of error.
