LOCAL COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Wilkes Volleyball Wins In 3
At Wilkes, the Colonels volleyball team easily dispatched of Delaware Valley 25-17, 25-8, 25-16.
Alex Ferrier led Wilkes (12-4, 1-2 MAC Freedom) with 10 kills. Karlye Huffman handed out 33 assists. Jamey Mikovich led defensively with 14 digs.
Misericordia 3, FDU-Florham 1
At Misericordia, the Cougars improved to 10-6, 2-1 MAC Freedom with the nail-biting win.
Tara Welliver and Sarah Pool shared the team-high with 15 kills. Welliver had six blocks and Pool added 12 digs.
Jessica Oltman was right behind them with 14 kills while Karley May set up the offense with 55 assists.
Eastern 3, Kings 1
At Eastern, the Monarchs fell to 10-4, 1-2 MAC Freedom with the loss.
Rachel Miller had 17 kills to top King’s. Taylor Mueller had 14 digs and Wiatt Hoffmann had 33 assists.
At Wilkes, the hosts dropped a 3-1 decision to Scranton.
After a scoreless first half, Wilkes got on the board first on a Amber Grohowski goal.
Scranton, however, tallied three unanswered to steal the win.
At Centenary, King’s hit the back of the net three times in the first half while Owen Geedey kept everything out of the Monarch’s in a 3-0 win.
Sam Pipicelli, Ayrton Omoigui and August Axtman tallied goals.
Wilkes 3, Scranton 1
At Wilkes, the Colonels won their first game against Scranton since 2007.
Kyle Bentz scored twice, both times assisted by Camry Huff. Huff also scored off an assist from Bentz.
At Scranton, Wilkes was shut out by the hosts 2-0.
Wilkes drops to 2-4-1.
