Vehicles, backhoes stolen from Bridgeport construction company

October 5, 2018

BRIDGEPORT — Several construction vehicles were stolen from a city company on Sunday and still haven’t been located, police said.

Multiple vehicles and backhoes were taken from the yard of Candee Construction, at 3255 Fairfield Ave., shortly before noon on Sunday.

“We think it’s an inside job,” Police Chief Armando Perez said Friday. “They knew exactly where to go, what to avoid.”

The company told police a 2018 Hitachi mini excavator, a 2000 Rogers Brother trailer in red, a Ford conventional dump in red and an Eager Beaver trailer in yellow were taken.

“Sometimes you hire people with a questionable past, you want to give them a second or third opportunity and it just doesn’t work out,” Perez said.
