Knife assault lands Havasu woman in jail

May 18, 2019

A Lake Havasu City woman is behind bars after an assault involving a knife at an Anacapa Drive residence Thursday morning.

Police officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Anacapa Drive at about 9:30 a.m.for a report of a person with a weapon and a stabbing that had occurred.

Officers learned that Nancy G. Canchola, 39, had been in an argument with her 29-year-old roommate which then turned physical.

Then, a 51-year-old man who is related to the female victim arrived at the apartment complex during the fight and attempted to intervene as Canchola held the female victim at knife point against her will. Canchola then fought with the relative and suffered cuts that weren’t life threatening when the male relative attempted to get the knife away from her.

Canchola, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault involving domestic violence, kidnapping, and criminal damage, after Havasu City Police said she was involved in a domestic violence incident.

Canchola is in the Lake Havasu City jail pending her initial appearance.
