Murphy Leads Billerica to at Least a Share of MVC D2 Championship

Ryan Murphy scored 27 points -- including his first dunk -- while helping the Billerica High boys basketball team clinch a share of the MVC Division 2 title with a 69-63 victory over Dracut.

Elsewhere, Groton-Dunstable topped Fitchburg, 64-57, in a Midland-Wachusett League B Division game.

Aiden Deady netted 13 points for the Indians, who improved their record to 12-9 overall and 8-7 in MVC Division 2.

Ankeet Patel scored 8 points.

Billerica closed out the game on an 18-6 run.

Freshman Adrian Torres scored 23 points, with 5 treys, and had 3 steals for Dracut.

Tyler Guerrero tossed in 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, while JC Santiago netted 12 points and had 3 steals for the Middies (10-10).

Evan Cook scored 16 of his game-high 34 points on free throws while powering the Crusaders past Fitchburg.

Connor Keegan tossed in 10 points for Groton-Dunstable (15-4 overall, 6-2 league).

Senior Jacob Yurkoski scored 9 points, including the game-winning trey with 12 seconds remaining, as Littleton edged Tyngsboro in a Midland-Wachusett League game.

Littleton (10-9) secured a state tournament berth with the win.

Luke Elliott (10 points) and Ross Cotnam (9 points) played well for Littleton High, which went 14-for-15 from the free throw line.
