Three arrested on drug charges after citizen tip
BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City police said they seized methamphetamine and heroin thanks to a suspicious activity tip from a citizen.
At about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a motel in the 3100 block of Highway 95 for a report of a tenant having heavy and unauthorized foot traffic from her room, spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said.
Officers then contacted three people in a room rented to 35-year-old Tara Rae Wightman.
They reportedly found about 20.3 grams of methamphetamine, about 11.6 grams of heroin, about 0.8 grams of marijuana and about 1.3 grams of prescription narcotic alprazolam pills.
In plain view, Fromelt said, officers could see several drug paraphernalia items.
Many paraphernalia items were consistent with the sale of drugs, Fromelt said, including a digital scale and numerous baggies known to be used for individual purchases.
Wightman was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of marijuana, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, and on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear.
Carmine Charles Margiotta III, 24, and Jade Erin Virgin, 26, were arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. They both were later released. Wightman was taken to the Mohave County Jail in Kingman, where she was being held without bond as of Saturday.
