WASHINGTON (AP) _ A 35-year-old woman died two days after becoming ill while running in the Marine Corps Marathon.
Hilary Bellamy of Silver Spring, Md., who died Tuesday, was conscious and coherent when she left the race course Sunday in an ambulance for Georgetown University Hospital, marathon officials said.
``We don’t want to comment until we have all the information,″ said marathon spokeswoman Kimberly S. Roberson.
Bellamy is believed to have completed 21 miles of the 26.2-mile race before seeking medical attention.
Her husband accompanied her in the ambulance to the hospital.
Four people have died during the Marine marathon in the 27-year history of the race.
