Hurricane automobile dealership donating to cancer foundation

November 15, 2018

During November, Walker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is donating $25 to the Prostate Cancer Foundation for every vehicle the Hurricane dealership sells throughout the month.

“It’s a first-time thing for us,” Walker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram General Manager Ryan Walker said last week, regarding the donation effort. “We’ve had a really good year this year and we were thinking of ways to give back to people.

“My dad had prostate cancer in 1999 and our parts manager had it four or five years ago. Two of our salespeople have had prostate cancer in the last couple of years. It’s something close to us, that this many people in our dealership alone have had it,” he said.

“We thought it would be a good thing to do in November,” Walker said, “when they promote men’s health awareness during the month. We also want to give back to something to help people with it in the future.”

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is second only to skin cancer as the most common cancer among American men.

The ACS also says one in nine American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, but the disease can often be treated successfully when detected early enough by a medical professional.

Walker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is located at 102 Orchard Park Drive in Hurricane. Sales hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays.
