Shelter location changes for Black Creek residents

September 18, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. – The American Red Cross has relocated a shelter for residents in the Black Creek community.

The shelter location now is Darlington Middle School at 150 Pinedale Dr. in Darlington.

It is open and available to residents who were asked to evacuate Sunday afternoon because of rising water in Black Creek.

The shelter previously was located at the National Guard Armory at 400 South Greer Road.

An immediate mandatory evacuation order was issued Sunday afternoon for Nena Lane, Spilt Rail Drive, East Black Creek Drive, Staghorn Lane, Atlee Court, Crooked Creek Drive and Creekside Drive to be completed as soon as possible.

Residents evacuating were asked to leave with some proof of residency for re-entry purposes once the order to evacuate is rescinded.
