Investigation underway after early morning fire

HUNTINGTON — Crews with the Huntington Fire Department spent several hours early Tuesday morning battling flames inside an abandoned home in the 700 block of West 5th Street.

The fire was reported about 3 a.m. Tuesday. Crews arrived to a fully involved fire. At 7 a.m., a new shift of firefighters took over battling the flames, which in the end took about eight hours to extinguish.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

The Huntington fire marshal responded to the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
