May 26, 2019

Atascocita’s season came to an end Friday night.

The Eagles lost a 7-6 decision to Fort Bend Ridge Point in Game 2 of a Class 6A regional semifinal series at Panther Field.

Atascocita scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-3 lead on the Panthers.

Ridge Point made its move in the bottom half of the inning adding two runs to take a 5-4 lead.

The Panthers added two more runs in the sixth, but the Eagles didn’t give up.

With their season on the line Atascocita scored two runs in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough for a comeback win.

Tyler Byrd had three RBI while Clay Bradford had three hits and two RBI for the Eagles.

Brice Matthews had two hits for the Eagles.

Atascocita lost a 12-9 decision to Ridge Point in Game 1.

The Eagles led 7-2 after three innings of play, but the Panthers exploded for six runs in the fourth inning and added four runs in the third inning.

Atascocita ends the season 29-10.

The Eagles finished in second place in District 22-6A play after dropping their first two games to Kingwood. A series win would have setup a rematch between the two district rivals after Kingwood defeated Lamar in a series sweep.
