London Share Prices Open Firmer in Thin Trading

LONDON (AP) _ Share prices opened firmer in very thin trading on the London stock exchange today.

The Financial Times-Stock Exchange Index of 100 leading shares was up 10.8 points to 1,741.1 at the opening.

Dealers said the market was reassured that Wall Street did not fall further on Tuesday following the sharp drop in New York prices the previous day.

In movement in London due mainly to mark ups by the market makers, nearly all the FT-SE 100 stocks posted gains of up to 12 pence in early trading.

On Tuesday in New York, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 16.08 to 1,926.89, compared with a 56.70 point drop on Monday. The Tokyo market was closed today.
