Coyotes’ Roenick Injured in Game
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Phoenix Coyotes center Jeremy Roenick was diagnosed with a slight concussion after he was injured in the third period Tuesday night of a 2-2 tie with the Washington Capitals.
With 7:42 remaining in regulation, Roenick was ridden hard into the right corner by Capitals defenseman Joe Reekie. Roenick crumpled to the ice, but no penalty was called.
Trainers assisted Roenick, who earlier scored his team-leading 10th goal, as he skated from the ice under his own power. He pointed an accusing finger at Reekie seated on the Capitals bench.
Roenick, who did not return, was too groggy to speak to reporters after the game. A Coyotes spokesman said he had a slight concussion. His status for Thursday’s home game against Colorado is unknown.
