LORI LOUGHLIN SURRENDERS TO FACE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCANDAL

BOSTON (AP) — The second of two big-name actresses implicated in the college admissions scandal has turned herself in. Lori Loughlin (LAWK’-lihn) has surrendered to authorities — and later today will face a Los Angeles court hearing. Fellow actress Felicity Huffman turned herself in yesterday — and has been released on $250,000 bond after an appearance in federal court in Los Angeles. Her husband, actor William H. Macy, hasn’t been charged. But an FBI agent states in an affidavit that Macy was present when Huffman first heard the pitch from a scam insider. The scandal has also affected the corporate world. A Silicon Valley hedge fund has replaced its leader after he was implicated in the case. Manuel Henriquez was arrested yesterday in New York — and released on $500,000 bail. Shares of the hedge fund dropped 9 percent.

R. KELLY - CHILD SUPPORT

CHICAGO (AP) — R. Kelly is looking to find a way to pay less in child support. A publicist for the R&B singer says Kelly wants to have his support payments lowered. But it’s unclear whether that request has been formally made. There was a hearing on the matter today in Chicago. But the judge handling the matter has sealed the records — and has barred attorneys from talking to the media about it. However, the Chicago Sun-Times reports Kelly’s criminal defense lawyer, Steve Greenberg, said there would be “no change in anything.” As for who put up the money to get Kelly sprung from custody over the weekend, the singer’s publicist Darryll Johnson says it was done by his friends and family.

DONALD TRUMP ADDRESSES FAKE MELANIA CLAIMS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has had it with the #fakeMelania conspiracy theories that have been circulating on social media. Trump claims photos of his wife were altered to make them seem that a look-alike went with him to Alabama last week to survey tornado damage. Trump’s favorite TV program, “Fox & Friends,” reported on the body double theory today as a follow-up to a segment earlier this week on ABC’s “The View.” Trump blames what he calls “fake news” for altering the photos and says on Twitter that his critics “are only getting more deranged with time!” Commentators on “The View” noted the woman with Trump last week seemed shorter than the president in photos. The first lady ditched her customary stilettos and wore sneakers on the trip.
