Cops seize almost 3 ounces of cocaine in big Stamford bust
STAMFORD - Knowing a large cocaine deal was about to take place in Stamford on Friday, city narcotics officers seized almost three ounces of powdered narcotic.
Capt. Richard Conklin said officers in the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad heard that a $4,500 cocaine delivery from New York City was about to take place Friday at the popular Harbor Point bar and restaurant, Sign of the Whale.
At about 4:50 p.m. Friday, the officers watching the area saw Jonathan Garrido, 32, pull into the parking garage and get out of his vehicle. When officers approached, Garrido, of Manhattan, tried to quickly walk away but he was quickly detained and searched.
The found one plastic bag containing three other plastic bags, each weighing about an ounce. Police also found that Garrido was carrying $$1,400 in cash, and that too was seized.
Garrido posted a $60,000 court appearance bond over the weekend and was released.
