Family paddle on Bark River set Saturday

The Friends of Glacial Heritage Area will hold a family paddle down the Bark River near Fort Atkinson Saturday.

The paddle will begin at Burnt Village County Park on County Highway N in Jefferson County and end at Haumerson’s Pond, Bark River Park, on South Fourth Street in Fort Atkinson.

Launch time is 10 a.m., and a free car shuttle will begin at 9:15 a.m. so paddlers can park their vehicles at the Haumerson’s Pond lot. Attendees should unload their gear and be ready with shuttling prior to the launch time.

The 5-mile gently-winding river trip takes a little over two hours. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the conclusion of the paddle.
