Stratford PD continues to investigate fatal Sunday crash, IDs victim
STRATFORD — A Stratford man was pronounced dead Sunday night after he succumbed to injuries he sustained in a crash that same day where he lost control of his car and hit a tree, police said Wednesday.
Richard Pugh, 32, of Stratford, was driving south on Broadbridge Avenue near Success Avenue on Sunday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle, Capt. Frank Eannotti said in a news release.
“The car left the roadway and struck a tree,” Eannotti said. “Investigators are working on determining the cause of the crash.”
There was no one else in the car with Pugh at the time of the crash, Eannotti said. Pugh was taken to Bridgeport Hospital to be treated. He was pronounced dead at the hospital Sunday night.
Eannotti said no further information was available for release Wednesday since the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
