EL PASO, Texas - Junior forward Marah Abu-Tayeh knocked in a career-best two goals Thursday as the Marshall University women’s soccer team defeated UTEP in double overtime, 2-1.

Abu-Tayeh leads the Thundering Herd with five goals this season. Freshman keeper Lindsey Langley entered the match late and recorded five saves. Langley entered her first college match after starting goalie Megan Bonelli was injured in a collision with one of the Miners. The Herd improved to 3-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in Conference USA. The Miners fell to 5-4-1 and 1-1-0.

“What a tough match,” Herd head coach Kevin Long said. “The team showed some real grit and I’m proud of the result. Getting a win in conference on the road is really difficult, proven tonight by the strong play from UTEP.”
