Super Bowl-winning coach Kevin Gilbride returning to Pocatello for ISU alumni game

August 22, 2018

Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator and former Idaho State women’s basketball coach Kevin Gilbride is returning to Pocatello for the ISU alumni basketball game on Sept. 28.

Gilbride was the Bengals’ co-head coach during the 1974-75 season — the first in program history. He and co-head coach Sandra Noakes led ISU to an 8-7 record. Gilbride was also a linebackers coach for the ISU football team during the 1974 and ’75 seasons, according to pro-football-reference.com.

Gilbride went on to coach in the Canadian Football League and spent 21 seasons in the NFL as a head coach and offensive coordinator. He coordinated the offense for the New York Giants during their 2008 and 2012 Super Bowl championships.

Gilbride is one of 42 former players and coaches who are scheduled to be present for the alumni game, according to Bengals play-by-play announcer Mark Liptak. Noakes has also agreed to come. The game is schedule to tip off at 6 p.m. from Reed Gym and is free for the public to attend.
