September 27, 2018

Manistee Sheriff John O’Hagen identified a pair of local men who were struck by a car in Bear Lake Tuesday, and where one died from his injuries.

O’Hagen said Andre Alvesteffer, 20, of Pentwater, was pronounced dead at the scene. Damon Williamson, 23, of Ludington remained in Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

“His condition is improving, and we have been informed he is stable,” O’Hagen said in a press release. “We do not know the extent of his injuries at this time.”

The pair were struck Tuesday afternoon by a 66-year-old Bear Lake woman in a construction zone. O’Hagen said the case remains under investigation, and his office is awaiting toxicology reports and additional information from the accident investigators on scene.
