Charge in Worcester shooting upgraded to murder
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Worcester man previously charged only as an accessory in the 2014 shooting death of 19-year-old man is now facing a murder charge in the case.
Prosecutors say a grand jury has indicted 23-year-old Fathi Jaara on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the October 2014 shooting of Christian Obeng-Addo.
Jaara is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charge Monday.
Two men have now been charged with murder in connection with the shooting that injured a second man. A third suspect faces an accessory charge.
Authorities say the trio went to an apartment complex and banged on a window, challenging the residents to come outside.
Obeng-Addo was shot in the back of the head.
Jaara’s attorney could not immediately be determined.
